Search Engine Optimisation
A lot of businesses want to be at the top of a Google search results page. But it doesn't have to apply to all businesses.
It depends on a lot of factors e.g.
- what you do
- where you do it
- what your objectives are etc.
If a high Search Engine Results Position (SERP) is required the main things to start with are:
- to have good quality text on your site
- the site should comply with the latest standards set down by the W3C
- correct use should be made of headings, page titles, page and site descriptions etc
Most of this is common sense and forms part of the whole Optimisation process that Bewebbed offers as a part of the service.
Also important is the correct selection of key words that your clients will be using to search for your goods and services. The most effective terms might not be what you think they are.
SEO is an ongoing process, something that has to be done at least every month. You need to use statistics to monitor visitors and find out how they got to your site, what search terms they used, how long they stayed etc. You also need to have a system to evaluate how effective your program is on an regular basis so that you can improve your website's effectiveness.
If a high SERP is very important to a client I will recommend a specialist to advise on Optimisation and to run the regular monitoring and SE marketing campaign.
